Mohammad hassanzadeh & Ahmad Moradi: X-ist

Opening Friday May 26, 2017 –  Friday June 23, 2017

16:00 – 20:00

Ag Galerie is pleased to present Mohammad Hassanzadeh & Ahmad Moradi’s first solo exhibition titled X-ist.

To reach a safe haven, asylum seekers mainly use two migratory routes: Land and Sea. They face obstacles and danger on both journeys. Via land, they are exposed by high-tech security facilities and by sea, their perilous journey often results in drowning and death.  Both are recorded and/or revealed in x-ray images: EU customs and border protection agency backscatter scanners capture images of smugglers’ truck interiors, and fluorescent coral bands reveal daily diaries of weather conditions at sea and the perils the asylum seekers face while desperately floating in search of safe shores.

Mohammad Hassanzadeh is a graduate of Tehran University’s College of Fine Arts and ahmad Moradi is a PhD candidate of social anthropology with an emphasis on visual media at Manchester Univeristy.
